Contributing to the “Eradication of poverty and extreme hunger, Unemployment , Skill enhancement and Community Development ” will be our main emphasis.
Our first pilot ”Skill Enhancement Training Program” will focus on registering 5 individuals from surrounding communities that are either unemployed or working for less then minimum wage. This opportunity will allow them to be compensated for time spent during the training program, and get them back into the sprit of the workflow.
The 5 trainees will focus on helping with the development of the St Peters Community Garden Research and Development Center and occupying an area of the farm for growing their own produce, a portion of the produce harvested will go toward less fortunate members in the community and the reminding produce for the trainees to be able generate extra funds at the upcoming Community activities that will be soon scheduled in collaboration with the St Peters Community Council..
We urge members of the surrounding community that look forward to seeing positive changes in their communities to take the survey so we maybe able to gather the following useful information..
We will accomplished the above mentioned by:
– Providing locally-grown fruits and vegetables to community members to offset the high cost of imported food on Sint Maarten!
– Providing training to five selected community members that will give them additional skills and knowledge to be able to find employment and make an income!
– Providing a venue for other members of the community to generate a small additional income from sales of their goods and services at a “Community Market Day”!
– Help to provide away to assist the Community Council with ideas to generate additional revenue so they may be able to assist needy members of their community!
Though this pilot may not be able to fully accomplish this on a great scale, it will spark the interest of others that share the same vision to get involved. Once the pilot take its course and proves its benefits, it will surely encourage implementation throughout other communities. which in the end will create a wide network that will be able to achieve this mission.!
