Blessed Love, My Name Is Denico Wyatte Man. Dir of Spaceless Garden and Cultural Xpression Newsletter. I would like to propose to you the following and ask you to be a part of this historical movement..

Below is the description of a  plan for the development of a community garden which will be  located on Lemon Road in the St Peters area.

The underneath is a plan that the developer holds all copy rights to and could be duplicated in other communities, with the consent and  respects  giving to developer D.L.W:

Understanding the need for Food Security and Sustainability on the island as everything at the current moment is based on importation, we have long been over due to research and test our options within the Agricultural sector here on our beautiful island of St Maarten…

By understanding the need for food security and the great relief it may bring to the buying and spending power of a community, this over the course of time may also be a great asset to the decrease in poverty and eventually a decrease in crime…..

The main focus is to get more people involved in community gardening, but we first  have to develop a way to get others to understand the possibilities, and in a world like today , most people are convinced by seeing…

By Developing a community Garden we will be able to practice to art of cultivation in many forms while focusing on producing one main crop. This community garden will act as a mini agricultural station , where members of any community on the island will be able to come and obtain information and help  on how to develop and maintain a garden in their back yard or community , be able to provide seedlings at the capacity of 10000 every four weeks, dispense cultivated food amongst the less fortunate community members, create 2  job opportunities and create and environment where community member can come and enjoy a well organized, educated garden experience…

The community  garden will focus on cultivation one main crop in order to be able to sustain its self and provide 2 part time jobs for members in the community.

We look at a Cultivation of Sweet Peppers to be our first main crop. While it will not be the only crop in production, it will be one that will run in constant cycles to be able to guarantee a sustainable harvest. There are many other crop the will be planted in lesser amounts, but will still be able to add to the value and sustainability of the project ! Other crops that will be planted are , Egg Plants, Sour Sap, Guava, Guava Berry

SWEET PEPPER PROJECT on 300sq meters:

We plan to set 10  20×3 feet raised bed to be able to hole the capacity of 400 sweet pepper trees. We will plant 400 tree to secure the cultivation of 300..

By having 300 sweet pepper trees in production cycle we can be able to after the first 72 days 600 lbs of sweet peppers which can be sold at $2 per pound.. By having the production Chamber in place we can schedule routine harvest to maintain a monthly income of $1200 for starters to maintain..

ROMAIN LETTUCE , SCALLIONS , PARSLEY, PAK CHOY on 200sq meters:

As a back up, these fast 4 week crops will fill in to insure a constant cash flow to sustain the project. We will be planting a few of the above mentioned crops in assorted areas to be able to ensure an additional income of minimum $ 500 monthly to add to sustaining the project. These Crops may be grown traditionally or organically in an Aqua-ponics or Hydro ponics system. These crops will be planted in sets of 150 plants to secure 125 healthy plant be be able to meet our projected mark..

INTENDED EXPERIMENTAL CROPS:

For project research and to be able to understand what crops are sustainable for cultivation in our environment , we will be experimenting on many other crop types such as , Egg Plant , Broccoli, String Beans, Tomatoes, Bush Beans, Okra, Cabbage, Onions, Callards, Cauliflower, Sweet Corn , Cucumbers, Thyme, Mint , Basilicom ( Purple and Lemon ), Lemon Grass , Morengay,  Dragon Tong, Pigeon Peas, Sun Flowers, Spinach, Avocado , Ackee, Mangos, Passion Fruit , Guava Berry, Sugar Apple, Papaya, pumpkin, Lime an other types of ornamental plants.

What we have researched and grown already are: Broccoli, Kail , Pak Choy, Mint , Bassilicom, Rose Mary , Egg Plant, Sweet Peppers, Season Peppers, Onion Scallions, Garlic Scallions, Papaya, Bay Leaf, Avocado, Spinach , Pigeon Peas, Pumpkin, Sour Sap, Cherry Tomatoes, Passion Fruit, Thyme , Lemon Grass and Parsley to name a few.

Buy analyzing todays food consumption market, we can clearly see that food has always been on demand and is growing at a rapid paste for organic production. As people become more health conscience these days we only find it necessary that they should be able to afford and consume organic produce, that may also have great heath benefits.

Phase 1 – The Goal

We will be utilizing about 500sq meters for production in the first year to be able to manage and execute the right way , this way we hope of doubling the production after the first 18 months.   By having the production chamber we will be able to organize and manage crops to insure sustainability… Our production chamber will have the capacity to hold 10,000 seedlings every four week and will also be utilize to produce ornamental plants.

The goal is to be able step by step research , experiment and execute the findings towards developing over the course of time a sustainable food security network amongst other communities and community members here on the island..  We will be practicing the arts of  Aqua Ponics and Hydro Ponics in an organic fashioned. In due time once the project is running at a sustainable level we can see how we can assist other land owners and private investors into organizing other agricultural projects on other private or government own properties…

Another one of our main goals is to also research the most beneficial medicinal purposes of all the crops we grow. We not only plan on cultivating food but also to be able to find natural solutions through research to many  of our common health problems by concluding the benefits of obtaining information in the sectors of Alkaline , Acidic  and electronic foods…..

The community will be able to benefit by being first preference on  purchasing certain items organically from the farm at lower rates than the current supermarket price. This will help towards better buying and spending power amongst the community. Putting this project together in the right way can be able to assist 2 member from the community with part time work and compensate them with revenue generated from crops and other added value items..

They will also benefit greatly by being able to get vital information and demonstrations on how they can also get involved in their back yards… Intentions of researching, planning, executing and disseminating the right information over the course of the next 10 – 20  years, we may be able to have Agricultural development in small and larger scales  spread out amongst different communities, private and public on our beautiful island… This will insure over the course of time sustainability of at least one or 2 crops that maybe able to provide for the masses of St Maarten or export.

Twice each year we will also be able to contribute to the development of a garden in back yards of St Peters and other community  members.. It would also be able to take on 2 part time helpers within the community in the first year with intentions to provide  them with a full time sustainable jobs over the course of time.

The Cultural Xpression Monthly newsletter will be a portal to disseminating vital information to the different communities, on our Plans, Research, Development and Progress of the community Garden.

The Community Garden will also be a place where families, Tourist and schools can come and enjoy a relaxing day in a hammock while, obtaining vital information pertaining to agriculture and  enjoy from fresh juices, Ice teas, Salads and Fruits from our garden…
