TENS OF THOUSANDS OF FISH DEAD IN THE SALT POND – When will government get involved ?

In  these photos taken to today you can see thousands of dead fish lying in the great salt pond. This is not a surprise to us , a few months back we experienced the same problem. What is disturbing is that it will happen again without any concerns of our local government. We know that there can be steps taken to reduce this over a course of time to decrease the death rate of fish when an incident like this occurs and revitalize the natural value of the Great Salt Pond. So the question is , with the world economic problems at hand and the need for food security, Can something be done to turn this unfortunate incident into something that may actually benefit the people of St Maarten? We at St Maarten Agriculture say Yes ! Government of St Maarten What do you think ?

    Best wishes with getting government support to best deal with agriculture, and the environment. Additionally I would suggest doing some science to measure local ground currents from solar activity. Or at lease look at regional magnetometer data and in IMF Bz (vertical component of the interplanetary magnetic field) from the ACE spacecraft. It is just my own yet unproven theory, but I believe that occasionally solar activity has contributed to these events. We’re about at solar maximum now. I’m not sure how ground currents may affect fish. In some cases it may cause strange behavior. Perhaps induced electrical currents speed up oxidation of decaying matter, suddenly consuming dissolved oxygen in the process? Your local electric utility operator may be monitoring ground currents since those potentially affect their systems. I would guess that fish are more sensitive to them than transformers.
